A friend of mine was photographing my movement and shadow as i belly danced, i asked her to film me on my lovely little camcorder that is so small you can fit in your pocket!
so basically i have a belly dance video up on youtube. i sepia toned it because i dont have a professional costume just yet, my old caberat costume is rubbish. and also it was a sort of dedication to my anncesters who were Romany Gypsy (my great grandfather was Romany) so i wanted a slight oldy worldy feel, regardless of the studio background.

we are doing something similar this monday, the walls are going to be covered with my collages, a shot will be taken of my feet covered in black paint leaving footprints on the paper on the floor, but most of the shots will be of me dancing around my collages, again with a shadow in the background. it will be a performance art peice- fusing my inner child (collages) with my alter ego (the dancer) together. it is a form of liberation because my collages represent emotional chaos within and around me and my belly dance is a form of freedom, the shadow will represent my dark side, so basically its all about identity and discovering who i am through art. i am very much intrigued by performance art, its the bees knees!
